ATTEMPTED SUICIDE.

(United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright).. Received April 15, 1 p.m. —” LONDON, April 14. The Duchess of Leinster was to-day convicted on a charge of attempted suicide, and was remanded. _ The Duchess was emphatic in her denial of tho charge, and declared that she only intended to frighten the man with whom she was Jiving. She was merely acting.

The Duchess was May Etheridge, a beautiful musical comedy actress, when she married Hon. Edward FitzGerald in 1913. He succeeded a number of years later as Duke of Leinster. A few years ago the Duchess thought of returning to the London stage in order to help their financial position.
