FORCED LANDING.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB’S ’PLANE. NEW PLYMOUTH. April 14. A forced landing on the beach, 10 miles north of Kawhia, in order to shelter from a heavy storm approaching, placed the Moth ’plane of New Plymouth- Aero Club in; serious difficulties. > ; ' The ’plane piloted by lan Keith, with Mr S. E. Nielson, secretary of the. club, as a passenger, buried its wheels in the wet sand and the flood tide lapped the fliers’ shoes as they strained to drag the ’plane to safety. Mean-: while a fierce gale. raged- and rain fell heavily. Three landings were made on + he trip from the Auckland air pageant to New Plymouth, and, despite the hazards, the machine was not damaged, and the men were merely' fatigued.
