TOWELS FOR SCHOOLS
V NEW SYSTEM ADOPTED. Reporting to the annual meeting of householders at College Street School, on Monday night, the headmaster (Mr Swinbourn) stated that Mr Dash had offered to make a donation . towards , the cost of • individual paper towels in the new school in place of the present towels. Mr Swinbourn added that of course it was a matter of finance.. Mr Cutler said that the innovation was a desirable one. Mr Taylor said that the paper towels were desirable from'the health point of view. One would be issued to. each child and it would last for two or three days. He understood that .the towels could be obtained at a total cost for the infant school for of £4 10s and Mr Dash had offered to contribute towels costing 18s. Mp Aitchison had Also offered to donate, a guinea towards the cost. Mr C. S. Pees asked if ,these paper towels could be purchased of . British make and the chairman (Mr Aitchison) replied in the affirmative. The chairman added that by using .these towels they would be -reducing the chance of infection. He understood that, a subsidy could be obtained on subscriptions towards the cost of the towels.
