PARNELL BY-ELECTION.

OPENING OF CAMPAIGN. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) AUCKLAND, April 14. The Parnell -by-election campaign will bo opened to-morrow evening, when both Mr W. A. Donald, the United Party candidate, and Mr G. Bloodworth, the Labour candidate, will address meetings in Remuera. Mr W. P. Endean, the Reform candidate, will open his campaign at Remuera on Wednesday evening. As the election will take place on May 7, the candidates will have three weeks within which to address the electors, but the Easter holiday and Anzac Day will intervene so that for practical purposes not more than about a dozen evening meetings will be addressed by eacfi candidate. However, as the electorate is a compact one, no difficulty is anticipated in covering tho territory within tho time allowed. HON. G. W. FORBES TO TAKE PART. WELLINGTON, April 14. It is expected that a number of members of the United Government will take part in the Parnell by-election campaign. Hon. G. W. Forbes, Acting Leader of the Party, and Minister of Lands and Agriculture, will speak in the electorate on Thursday, April 24, his priiicipal subjects being finance and land settlement. Prior to his adi dress lie will visit Rotorua- to confer with the Prime Minister.
