MOTOR-CYCLE RACING.
WELLINGTON, April 14. The Kilbirnie Speedway Stadium attracted its usual quota of broadsiding enthusiasts on Saturday evening. A number # of well-known dirt track “stars” competed. The heavy rain of the previous night had made the track sticky and it was not to be expected that any very fast times would be recorded. Most of the competitors rode well, and some of the events, especially the three heats of the Selected Six Short Limit Handicap (won by C. Tonks) was most exciting. A special invitation match race between W. Kilmister and T. Wilkinson was keenly contested and was won l,y the latter. The First Division Handicap went to V. Grove, and the Second Division Handicap to D. Phillips. L. Van Praag, the Australian rider, made an unsuccessful attack on F. Pearce’s track record of 76 seconds.
