After a campaign lasting a week it is evident that Gandhi has not achieved his object. His failure to rouse the whole country has created dismay in Congress. Agitators in Calcutta are trying a new device to harass the Government and Customs officials. In addition to offering for public sale small packets of contraband salt, tho extremists read at public meetings extracts from seditious literature. In a sharp clasli between police and students, 13 were injured and 30 arrests were made. The Mayor of Calcutta was again arrested on a charge of publicly reading proscribed literature. A mob in Bombay attacked a polite van carrying prisoners sentenced for offences against the Salt Laws. Ten persons were injured. BOMB EXPLOSIONS. Two bomb explosions occurred in Bombay to-day —one in the local railway train, and' the other in the waiting room of the Byculla railway station. Two Indians were seriously injured. A young, Mahomedan has 'been arrested for alleged complicity. SIMON COMMISSION. PUBLICATION SHORTLY. LONDON, April 12. The Daily Mail states that the Simon Commission’s report will be presented shortly after Easter. It is expected that the report will strengthen the Government’s hands, because of tho complete unanimity of the members of the commission.
