Carlton, tho sprinter, has decided not to visit Canada for the Empire Games on the grounds of expense and interference with his prospects of advancement in his future career. SWIMMING. SYDNEY, April 13. At a swimming meeting at the Domain baths, Frank McCure beat the Australian 220 yards breaststroke record, his time 2min. 58 3-10 sec., being 3 7-10 sec. better than Ivan Stedman’s time. BOXING. SYDNEY, April 13. At the Stadium last night, Jack Haines (list. 2Jlb.) defeated Louie Vauclard (list. 4Jib.) on points. The contest went 15 rounds. The Frenchman received a fearful thrashing. He was almost outed by a right to the cliin in the first round. BILLIARDS. LONDON, April 10. The scores in the first round of the billiards championship are as follow: Davies, 7376; Falkiner, 6291. ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL. LONDON, April 12. In the Scottish Soccer Cup final, Glasgow Rangers drew with Patrick Thistle at Hamden Park. Neither side scored. In the amateur Cup final at Upton Park, Ilford beat Bournemouth Gasworks by 5 goals to 1. CRICKET. SYDNEY, April 13. T. J. Andrews, by scoring 29 for Petersham against Manly, broke W. Bardsley’s eleven-year-old aggregate for tl)e season by five runs. Andrews made 1150 runs. In grade cricket, Mosman, winners of the season’s premiership, narrowly averted defeat in an exciting match against Paddington bv threo runs on the first innings. W. Hunt, bowling for Balmain against Western Suburbs, took eleven wickets for 49 runs. St. George won the second grade premiership, being four points ahead of Randwick. COURSING. SYDNEY, April 12. In the deciding course for the New South Wales Derby (the winner taking £l7O and the runner-up £75), held at Rooty Hill, C. N. Harwell’s dog Returned beat Miss Sidwell’s. Roseview and won the event. The latter obtained a lead, but Returned overtook him and reached the hare by a length and killed it. In the Woodstock Cup, the winner to take £75 and the runner-up £25, in the deciding epurse J. A. Williams’s Hadrian beat A.' Carter’s Cinbon and won.
