ORDER AGAINST HUSBAND.
! ALLEGATIONS OF CRUELTY. Allegations of persistent cruelty were made by Ethel May Cassidy against her husband, Woolcott Frederick Cassidy in the Magistrate’s Court, to-day, before Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., when she sought an order for separation and maintenance. The application was not defended. Complainant stated in evidence that she was married to defendant on August 14, 1926. Two, months later he packed up and left, refusing to take her with him. He sent her money and later she went to live with him at Waikaremoana, where, after a time, he allegedly hit and abused her. He had refused to see her when she was ill in Wellington. Since they had lived in Princess- Street,. Palmerston North he had, she alleged, hit her often, ’knocking her down and kicking her Ho had told her, that he hated her’ and was sick of looking at her. Mr McLeavey (who 1 appeared for complainant): I believe that on April 2 the neighbours found him in a gas ° V Mr ? McLeavey: And they apparently pulled him .out too'soon. Ho left a note stating that the “joke was on You? ,, —Yes. _ , , Mr McLeavey: And when he was pulled out and revived the joke was °"Maude Trembath, a neighbour of complainant, stated that early on one Sunday morning complainant came into witness’s house crying and saying that her husband had knocked her down and kicked her. , Her legs were Worship granted the separation order and directed that complainant be paid weekly maintenance at, the rate of 30s for herself and 103 for the one child of the marriage.
