TOWN BOARD MEETING. •' (From Our o>vn Correspondent.) \ ; BULLS. April 12. Tho monthly meeting of the Bulls Town Board was .held'\“on~ THursday "evening. Thoro wero present: -Messrs'J.lE, Walker (chairman),. W. H. Stevens,‘C./M. Broughton and V. Edhouso. Messrs .Robins and Holland were granted leave of absence for tho meeting, and Mr Flynn leave for two months. '. Foreman S.. Howard reported on tho work done for tho month ending. April 10, which included grading all main roads six times with tho Rangitikci County's grader, placing chips; on Bridge Street, assisting with concrete slabs at garage, placing metal on road at entrance to Town Bridge; screening metal and placing satfto on all main roads. He roported that more screenpd metal was required. A letter,, was received from tho Public Works Department, stating that . section 173 of the Public Works Act enabled local bodies to collect additional fees' from persons conducting extraordinary traffic on any roads. —Received. Tho Public Works Department advised that the subsidy (£45 8s 2d) for main highways maintenance had been placed to tho board's credit in tho Bank of Now Zealand.—Received. Tho Department of Education advised that tho subsidy (£ll 12s) for tho public libtary had been placed to the board’s credit at tho Bank of New Zealand.—Received. The estimates for the forthcoming year wero tabled, and the chairman gave notice to movo at tho next meeting that the following rates bo struck, viz., general rato Is sd; lighting rato 6d. The bridgo rate (4d) and tho footpath rate (2d) remain tho same. t Finance.—Credit balances were shown as follow: —General account, £562 17s 8d; cemetery account, £27 13s lid; library account, £3l 3s 2d. Collections for tho month wore: Town Hall rents £27 12s 6d; bowser rents £2O: heavy traffic licenses £lO Is lid; explosives licenses £l3; High-' way Board’s subsidy £45 8s 2d; cemetery £1 10s; library £ls 4s 6d; and dog tax £5 4s. Accounts were passed for payment as follow: —District account £l43* 10s 6d; library £9 11s Bd. The' following wero appointed Works Committee for th emonth: Messrs Holland,' Robins and Stevens. DOMAIN BOARD. The same members then sat as a.Domain Board. The Domain account was in credit £34 16s 9d. Collections amounted to £5 4s, and an account for £1 Is 6d was passed for payment. , , ' Tho Rangitikci Sub-Union applied for permission to uso thq Domain for Rugby matches.—Tho application was granted on the usual terms. It was resolved to put a man on for two days to remove gorso on tho recreation grounds. LODGE MEETINGS. Tho regular fortnightly meeting of tho Rosoncath Rcbokah Lodge , was held on Tuesday, April 8, P.N. # G. Sister Hill presiding over a fair attendance of members. One member was reported sick. Tho election of officers resujted as follows:—N.G., Sister G. Torrcy; V.G., Sis, ter E. Cooper; Perm. Sec., Bro. J. J.. Mansell; treasurer, Sister I. Hill. The installation of officers will bo held on Thursday, April 17. ’ ' A special meeting of Lodge Rangitikci No. 14, 1.0.0. F., was held on Wednesday evening, N.G. Bro. E. Petersen presiding over an excellent attendance, of mourners. Tho business of tho meeting was initiation and the conferring of degrees. Two candidates being present, they were duly initiated. Tho . Degree Master conferred 'degrees on’ four brothers. ' It was resolved to present each Past Grand with, a Past Grand’s, certificate. The N.G. was appointed to interview the trustees'regarding painting tho roof and ‘procuring a new tank. *
