Major Gran, who was a member of Scott’s expedition of 1910, is planning an attempt to reach the South Pole by motor cycle. Accompanied by three companions, he proposes to fly from Granite Bay, in the Ross Sea, to the plateau and thence proceed by motor cycles, each towing a sledge carrying provisions.
