OPERATIC SOCIETY.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Palmerston North Amateur Operatic Society was held on Thursday, Mr B. J. Jacobs presiding over a large attendance, nearly 50 members being present. The annual report (already published) and the balance-sheet were adopted Several members commented on the satisfactory nature of the season, and the favourable financial statement, which disclosed a credit balance of£7o. The election of officers resulted as follows Patron, Mr C. Louisson; president, Mr B. J. Jacobs; vice-presi-dents, Mrs Palmer, Messrs A. J. Graham, P. S. Larcombo, It. D. Hardie, S. L. Freeman, and F. Cousins; honorary conductor, Mr A. J. Graham; treasurer, Mr J. E. Lewis; auditor, Mr Grant Sim; secretary, Miss B. Pringle; committee, Misses Scott and Hancock, Messrs McGrath, Swallow, Seeker, Hansel, Leng-Ward and Bowater. It w'as stated that the comedy, A Pair of Silk Stockings,” was at present under rehearsal and would be staged in June. The opera to be submitted had not been selected.
