WHANGAREI TRAGEDY.
CONDITION OF PHILIP SPARKS. CHANCE OF .RECOVERY. AUCKLAND, April 7. The condition of Philip Sparks, the fifteen-year-old boy who was seriously injured in the Hikurangi railway crossing, was reported by the Wliangarei Hospital to bo showing signs cf improvement. There is now some hope for his recovery. ■■ Miss Edna Wilson, one of the victims of the tragedy, was the youngest of the three daughters of Mr and Mrs Alex Wilson, of St. Heliers. . .She was aged 2-4, and was a friend of Miss Eileen Trotter, the only daughter of Mr and Mrs Andrew Trotter, of Grey Lynn, and late of Hikurangi, who is seriously injured The two young women were <on holiday together visiting Miss Trotter's relatives in North Auckland. They left Auckland on March 24 and had been away just a fortnight. On Saturday they were granted an extension of tlreir leave in order to visit Russell.
