SYDNEY, April 4. At the Leichhardt Stadium to-night, Tommy Fairhpll (9.11) welter champion, outpointed Norman Gillespie (9.6), lightweight champion. It was a thrilling contest, in which Gillespie received • severe punishment. Gillespie, however, dropped Fairhall in the fifteenth round, but the latter rose quickly, and was saved by the bell. BILLIARDS. LONDON, April 4. The scores in the billiards matches are as follows : Lindrum. 10,738: Newman, .9504. Smith, 17,094; McConachy, 14,194. GOLF. SYDNEY! April 4. The passengers by the Maunganui, which left to-day for Wellington include the New South Wales golfers for the Kirk-Windeyer Cup. . EMPIRE GAMES.* BRISBANE, April 4. The Australian team for the British Empire Games at Ontario lias been announced as follows:—N. R. Pearce (New South Wales) sculling; J. Carlton (New South Wales), sprint; H A. Bascombe (Victoria), 4000 metres; N. Ryan (New South Wales). 400 and 1500 metres; W. Cameron (New South Wales), 100 yards free style and backstroke; D. C. Gallagher (Victoria), middle and light-heavy boxing. The team’s manager will be Mr S. R. Weir, of Victoria.
