TRAGEDY IN PHILADELPHIA. EXPLOSION OF FIREWORKS. NEW YORK, April 3. At Philadelphia to-day, stored fireworks exploded prematurely. A series of crashes was heard 30 miles away. Ten people were killed and 100 injured. Blast followed blast so heavily that motor cars were swept. off the noads and a' moving train rocked. Thousands of windows in an area of several miles were smashed. Pedestrians were whirled off their feet. Several of the victims were blown to pieces. MUNITIONS FACTORY FIRE. ~DELHI, .April 4.; Gallant efforts by British troops averted the explosion of' 28,0001bs of gunpowder and a large quantity of ammunition during ' a big blaze in a munitions ’.' factory at Kirkee, near Poona. A sentry gave the alarm and two companions of the Royal Munster Rifles, artillerymen and members of a tank corps fought the flames for two hours with a small engine, removing barrels of .gunpowder..from the blazing main, magazine A special congratulatory order has been issued by the Poona brigade area commander.
