Perrett presided over a fair attendance of members. The annual report and balance-sheet, which showed the finances .in a good position, were road and adopted. Offioers for the ensuing year wero elected as follow: Patroness, Mrs J. F. McKelvie; president, Mrs J. H. Perrett ; vice-presidents, Mesdames F. S. Collier, F. Grace, Jas. Harris and W. E. Pearce; hon. secretary, Mrs T. A. Adams; advisory board, Messrs J. H. Perrett, F. S. Collier and W. E. Pearce; committee, Mesdames H. V. Bond, L. Sadler, F. Tostevin, E. N. Butler and Rowan. It was resolved to have tho first meeting of the committee on 9th April. At the close of the meeting Mrs J. H. Perrett expressed thanks for her re-electiop as president and mado appreciative reference to the work done by the secretary (Mrs Adams) and members of the outgoing committee. Mrs Perrett also expressed thanks on behalf of members for' the cervices rendered by tho advisory committee. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair. RUGBY FOOTBALL. The season opened here on Saturday with a friendly game against Halcombe. The game was evenly contested, the visitors winning by six points (two tries) to throe points (one try). N. Jenkins was the scorer for the home side. Mr I. Edwards capatily controlled tho game. During the playing of the above game A. Nesbit,' one of the local team, had the misfortune to break his leg. He was conveyed to Bulls and on the advice of a doctor was then taken to the Palmerston North Hospital. Much sympathy is expressed with Mr Nesbit, who is very popular with his, chums. SANDON SPORTS MEETING. Members are to bo congratulated on the success of tho recent 9ports meeting. Tho tracks were in lino order and some fast times, both running and cycling, were registered. The McKelvie and Hornblow Shield competitions attracted record entries, and for the 64 events run in connection with both competitions the officials handled 626 starters. It speaks volumes for the organisation when it is pointed out that the competitions were put through in less than two and a half hours. Tho ICopano team put up a fine performance by retaining tho shield. Rangiotu and Glen Oroua also had some good representatives. Ohakoa had a fair team and Becurod a number of minor placings, but only two wins. The local school could only muster a weak team. Levin school put up a good performance by winning the McKelvie Shield. Foxton and Marton Junction put up good fights and the result could easily have been otherwise. Rangiotu, for a small school, did fino work, and winning the relay race was a distinct credit to their representatives. Better luck next time, Rangiotu. The starting of Mr F. W. Tostevin in both shield events was favourably commented on. In the general programme N. Donald (Bunnnythorpe) in the A grade and P. Cole (Ohakea) in the B grade were the outstanding cyclists. The latter is a beginner and promises to be more than useful with a little more experience and coaching. In the running events N. Strange ran really well, but found tho handicaps too hard. The times, 100 yards in lOsecs, 220 yards in 22secs, 440 yards in 49 l-sseos, speak for themselves. Visiting officials, as usual, did yeoman service, and among them were Messrs E. A. Caldow (Bulls), S. Amadio, T. Amadio (Feilding), T. Stubbs, Weston Smith, W. Brook ie, J. A. Cooksley (Palmerston North). SARRON-DONOVAN BATTLE. Local enthusiasts listened in to the wireless description of the SarronDonovan clash and the result was well received,, although a great surprise to most. The report came through very clearly and was much appreciated.
