PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

MEETING OF PRESBYTERY. There was a large representation of ministers and elders, at a meeting of the Wanganui Presbytery held in Marton yesterday. The Moderator, Rev. Raeburn McDonald, of Feilding, presided. Elders’ commissions were received and sustained in favour of Messrs W. H. Nicholas (Foxton), .Angus Mclntosh (Westmere), Goorge Humphry (Wanganui East), Rev. D. Martin (Feilding), Messrs D. W. Low (St.' Andrew’s, Palmerston North), J. G. Kerr (St. Andrew’s, Wanganui), A. F. Stewart (Bulls), A. McDonald (Taihape) and A. Sutherland (Fordell). Notification was received from the home mission superintendent indicating that Mr Fotheringham was being sent to Feilding outfield, and Mr Nichols, a home missionary, was being temporarily sent to Hunterville. Rev. G. T. Brown presented the report of the committee which had been set up to go into the matter of future plans of work in Shannon and Foxton. He stated that the committee had visited both these centres and had conferred with the people in the charges. As a result of those discussions, the committee did not recommend that any amalgamation of these two districts should take place, but that they should both continue as home mission districts in the meantime. On the motion of Rev. G. T. Broivn, seconded by Rev. D. Mclvor, a temporary grant of £SO was applied for on behalf of Shannon.

Notification was received from the Youth Director (Rev. R. M. Ryburn, M.A.) indicating that ho would be within the bounds of the Presbytery from April 22 to May 9. The following itinerary was adopted;—Wanganui and outlying districts, April 22 and 23; Turakina, April 24; Bulls, April 25; Marton : April 27; Ohakune, April 28; Raetihi, April 29; Mangaweka, May 1; Hunterville, May 2; Feilding. May 4; Apiti, May. 5; Palmerston North, May 6 and 7; Foxton, May 8; Shannon, May 9. Impressions of the recent Assembly in Dunedin were given by Revs. R. H. Catherwood G. T. Brown, D. Mclvor, C. W. Watt, D. R. McDonald, Messrs A. McDonald, A. F. Stewart, and W. H. Nicholas. As the next meeting would normally fall on June 3, it was decided to postpone the meeting until the following week, June 10.
