EDUCATION IN ENGLAND.

ESTIMATES INCREASE. DEVELOPMENT OF SERVICES. Received March 11. 10.5 a.m. LONDON, March 10. The Education Estimates amount to £45,495,653, an increase of £3,809,754. An accompanying memorandum states that £2,123,754 of the increase is due to the development and normal growth of education services. The remaining £1,686,000 is attributable to changes in the financial arrangement consequent on the Local Government Act of 1929.

The present cost of elementary education per child is £l3 0s 6d, and the average attendance at public elementary schools 4,890,000.
