RONGOTEA.
CONFIRMATION SERVICE. (From Our Own Correspondent). , RONGOTEA, Feb. 25^ Every scat in St. Simon and St. Judo’s Church, Rongotea, was occupied on Sunday evening, 23rd inst, on the occasion of the confirmation of seventeen candidates by His Lordship, Bishop Sprott, tho Bishop of the Wellington Dioceso, who gave a most interesting and inspiring address to the young people, the subject being a comparison of life from the cradle to the grave to a voyage. His Lordship gave as an example the voyage and shipwreck of St. Paul on the coast of Malta, and stressed the danger of the slowly acquired habit of drifting, which often was the cause of the wreckage of promising young lives. The gradual acquiring of bad habits was to bo strenuously guarded against and an endeavour should always be made to acquire habits that would tend to the building up of a beautiful character. His Lordship stressed the fact that the acquiring of habits, thus forming the character, should receive constant thought, as it was just as ea6y to acquire the habits that make the perfect man as to acquire those that ultimately cause heart-burning and sorrow to the individual and to those that had loved and cared for him. He appealed to his hearers to take Jesus as their captain, and assured thorn that with such a guide and example their voyage through life would end in the haven of righteousness. The following wore the candidates for confirmation : Iris Blaxland, Ivy Baylis, Gwen Amies, C. Bottcher, .'Jill Bower, N. Croad, N. Symons, Winnie Hurdsfield, M. Symons, Robert Bower, Thos.
