PROPOSED CABINET. M. CHAUTEMPS AS PREMIER. PARIS, Feb. 20. The Radical leader, M. Chautemps, has undertaken the attempt to form a Ministry. M. Chautemps, on securing M. Briand’s assurance of co-operation, submitted a Ministry to the President, M. Doumergue, as follows: — M. Camille Chautemps, Premier and Minister of the Interior. . M. Briand, Minister of Foreign Affairs. „ M. Deladier, Minister of War. M. Sarraut, Minister of Marine. M. Dumont, Minister of Finance. M. Queuille, Minister of Agriculture. M. llicorfi, Minister of Pensions. M. Flandin, Minister of Commerce. M. Loucheur, Minister of Public Works. . M. Pietri, Minister of the Colonies. The complexion of the Ministry is Radical and Left Centre. It will have the support of the Socialists, but it remains to be seen what majority it will command in the Chamber. The new Premier was a former Rugby international player, and is aged 45. He is a barrister, of agreeable manners, and is regarded as a man of moderate views, but has been known to show firmness in the past. M. Tardieu, in declining to enter the Chautemps Cabinet, declared that events did not permit of his collaboration. This might be interpreted as a disavowal of the majority whereby his Government had been faithfully defended in its international actions at The Hague and London, but he assured M. Chautemps that he would support any Government taking the same line as himself at the Naval Conference. An official correction shows that the Tardieu Government was only defeated by a majority of one, not five.
