AT THE PALACE. “THREE LIVE GHOSTS,” FIRST-RATE “TALKIE.” A triumph in the art of talking anti sound motion pictures has been achieved by United Artists in “Three Live Ghosts, ’ featuring an all-star cast which is now showing at the Palace Theatre. ‘‘Three .Live Ghosts” marks a new milestone in the art of motion picture making and no talking picturo yet produced has aroused the enthusiasm and acclaim accorded this famous all-talking comedy-drama, which is based on the play that made stage history both in this country and in England. “Three Live Ghosts” revolves around the experiences of three British soldiers, who escape from a German prison camp and return to London to find themselves legally dead in the eyes of the Government and of their friends. Notable performances are given by Beryl Mercer, as “Old Sweetheart,” and Charles McNaughton, Robert Montgomery and Claud AlTistcr, as the “Three Livo Ghosts.” Joan Bennett, Hilda Vaughan, Shaylo Gardner, Harry Stubbs, Jack Cooper, Jocelyn Lee, Nancy Price and Tenon Holtz complete the remarkable cast. DE LUXE TALKIES. RICHARD DIX IN ALL-DIALOGUE FARCE. Richard Dix will bo seen and heard at the Theatre do Luxe, commencing at 8 to-morrow night, in “The Love Doctor,” his latest all-talking picture for Paramount. In this picture, Dix plays the part of Dr Gerald Sumner, specialist in heart troubles, who, in the hope that one day a patient will arrive, spends his time playing tennis and golf. He has two leading ladies. June Collyer plays the part of Virginia Moore, while Miriam Scegar plays the part of Grace Tyler. Others in the cast include Morgan Farley, Winifred Harris, Lawford Davidson and Gale Henry. “The Love Doctor”, was adapted and dialogued from the play, "Boomerang,” by Winehell Smith and Victor Mapes. HOOT GIBSON IN ALL-TALKING WESTERN. At 8 this evening the Theatre de Luxo will finally present the ever popular cowboy star, Hoot Gibson, in the all-talking production, “The Long, Long Trail,” a screen adaptation of the thrilling Western novel “Ramblin' Kid.” An excellent cast appears in support of Gibson. This picture abounds in action, humour and romance, and is calculated to appeal to young and old alike. The supporting programme contains an all-talking comedy, “Watch Your Friends,” a sound cartoon and an interesting movictono news. KOSY THEATRE. RIFFS IN TOM MIX THRILLER. Until tho time of thicr uprising against Spanish authority in Morocco last year, and their successful campaign against tho army of Spain under General de Rivera put them in the front of the news in tho world’s newspapers, comparatively few people know -anything about tho Riffs, warrior tribesmen of Northern Africa. But when Spain was so hard pressed that it was obliged to call upon France for aid m chocking the revolt of those daring horsemen and fighters, they attracted vorld-wido attention until airplane attacks and assaults by the combined forces of two great Powors brought about their subjection. It is tho country of theso picturesque warriors that is tho local of “King Cowboy,” FBG feature starring Tom Mix, now at the Kosy Theatre. Tho action depicts the experiences of a cowboy troupe that invades tho Riffian confines to rescue a captive American ranch owner. Sally Blane is Tom Mix’s leading woman in tho absorbing photoplay.
