LAWN TENNIS. LONDON, Dec. 10. Another step toward open lawn ten* nis championships is how the Daily News describes the Lawn Tennis Association Council’s acceptance of a resolution that every affiliated nation should be entitled to hold annually one, but not more than one, tournament in which amateurs and professionals compete on level terms. MELBOURNE, Dec. 10. The Victorian championship tennis matches were concluded to-day. The singles were won by J. Crawford, who beat H. Hopman 6—3, 2—6, 3—6, 6—3, 6—4. In the doubles Crawford and Hopman beat Hawkes and O’Hara Wood 6—3, 6—4, 6—4. BILLIARDS. LONDON, Dec. 10. In the time-limit billiards match, Lindrum has made 4376, including a break of 614. Smith, in play, has made 3667, including a break of 445. BOXING. NEW YORK, Dec. 10. “Kid” Chocolate (1271 b.) knocked out Herman Silverberg (12051 b.) in the first round of a scheduled ten rounds, bout. Silverberg sagged* at Chocolate’s first blow and the “Kid” took his 158th victory of an unbesmirched career. Chocolate has 126 knock-outs to his credit. RUGBY. LONDON. Dec. 10. Forty thousand spectators watched the inter-University Rugby match at Twickenham to-day, when Oxford defeated Cambridge by 9 points to'nil. W. E. Henley, of Otago, has been awarded his Blue.
