FOR LIFE MEMBERSHIP,
CITIZENS’ LUNCH CLUB
Unique in its wording, the life membership certificate which has been approved by the Citizens’ Lunch Club is an interesting compilation, and the draft form w r as read at the weekly gathering yesterday. It was as follows: —“‘For the term of his natural life.’ Each personal friend of the club whose name is engrossed liereon, having been duly appraised by the Council of Ten as a man of probity and common sense, and deemed worthy of the honour, is hereby constituted a life member. Forty pieces of sterling silver, invested in State security paid and acknowledged, henceforth guarantee him to be . immune from every collection, susbeription qnd importunity in his behalf whatsoever. Good for ninety-nine years, renewable, but not transferable. Enacted, done unto this scroll of parchment in the tenth year after the foundation and deposited with the archives of the club.”
