AMATEUR BOXING.

LOCAL CLUB TO BE FORMED. A meeting of boxing enthusiasts was held at Havill’s gymnasium, Rangitikei Street, last evening, when it was unanimously decided to form an amateur boxing club, with the object of fostering the spoit locally. Mr J. M. Pearson presided. Mr A. G. Havill placed his gymnasium at the disposal of the club on its formation, and stated that lie would be prepared to carry out additions and alterations to make the premises up-to-date in every respect. Tentative proposals were discussed and it was arranged to hold a public meeting at the gymnasium next week. In the meantime, a temporary committee is to frame a set of rules and regulations, etc., for submission to the meeting.
