The Feilding High School Old Girls’ Hockey Club tendered a dance and kitchen tea on Friday evening to Mias Myra Amadio, whose marriage takes place this week. The organisation of a girls’ hockey club at tho High School was due to the efforts of Miss Amadio, who became its first captain, a position that she retained with honour for a number of years. Upon leaving school, Miss Amadio organised the High School Old Girls’ Club and was for a lengthy period its captain. Tho hall stage was tastefully decorated with native foliage, flowering gum and rhododendrons, while tho supper tables crossed with streamers of black and green (the club’s colours) were artistically arranged with sweetscented spring blossoms. A delicious supper was enjoyed, following which the very large array of parcels received was opened, a proceeding that evoked much interest. On behalf of the guest of honour, Mr Still thanked her friends for their kindness in according her so pleasant an ovening as well as tor the very complete kitchen, outfit, whereupon “They Are Jolly Good Fellows” was enthusiastically rendered. About 70 young people wero present and to spirited music contributed by Miss Merle Tolloy, Miss Jean Moray, Miss Amy Bridge and Mr S. Still, Mr J. Telford and Mr J. Pearce dancing was kept up till a late hour. Air Noel Bramwell efficiently filled the position of M.C. The hostesses were Alisses Agnes Alsop (captain), Y. Barltrop, AI. Tolley, M. and £. Baxter, B. Bridge, J. Richardson, J. Moray, L. Davidson and I. Alalcolm. Aliss Alsop was frocked in midnight blue georgette, a large pink satin bow being worn on the hip. Aliss Amadio wore a hock of green frilled taffeta and silver lace. Among those present were: Alisses V. Foster, N. Boddy, V. Barltrop, Al. Baxter, D. Wells, E. Hope, J. Aloray, G. Watts, D. Scotney, the friends of Aliss Ngaire 'Alann on Thursday evening paid a surprise visit, which took the form of a “kitchen” tea, to her home in East Street, and games and competitions passed the evening very happily away and the song, “Sonny Boy,” delightfully rendered by Miss I. Hughes, gave much pleasure. Prize-winners of the various competitions were Aliss L. Eichler, Miss I. Hughes and Mr 0. Scotney. On behalf of Aliss Alann, Air Scotney thanked those present for the numerous acceptable gifts, while Air Alann in a pleasing speech, thanked them for tho kind thought that had prompted tho party. The singing of “They Are Jolly Good Fellows” terminated a most enjoyable evening.
