FOOTBALLER FAREWELLED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) RUNGUXUA, Aug. 25. On Thursday evening last, tho members of tho Kongotea tnird grado football team met to bin farewell to a prominent member of tho team, Mr Harry Eades, who is leaving tho district. Mr Hughes, the coach of tho team, in thanking the members for their presence, outlined tho many excellent qualities of their guest as a footballer. Ho was a back of high class, and it would always bo a difficulty to fill the position which he was vacating. In voicing tho opinion of the team, Mr Hughes expresesd tho deep regret that all felt at Mr Eades's departure, and wished him every success, both in the field of sport, and in the new duties which ho is undertaking. The captain of tho team, Mr J. Liggins, in presenting Mr Eades with a handsome set of brushes, wished him every success in his future career, and although the team was losing a very popular member he felt sure that they wore all pleased to hear of his promotion. Mr Eades has shown great ability as a footballer since his school days, when he was a member of the Rongotea School seven-aside team, which won tho Boon Cup, at tho Manawatu soven-aside tournament. Mr Eades, in replying, thanked the team very much for their good wishes, and also for the very useful present which ho received. Mr H. Eades, who for the past two years has been on the clerical staff of the Rongotea Co-operativo Dairy Co., Ltd., lfet for Wellington on Saturday to join tho firm of Jos. Nathan and Co.. Ltd. SCHOOL FOOTBALL. On Saturday morning, bn a rain-soaked ground, the Rongotea School football team met and drew with the ICopane-Kairanga team, neither side scoring. Both sides missed many opportunities, tho state of the ground making tho ball very difficult to handle. Mr G. Burgess made a capable referee. PERSONAL. Mr Fred Wright, who has been an inmate of the Palmerston North Hospital, has returned home. Miss D. G. Harvey is spending the school vacation in Wellington. Miss O. Lo Coutior is visiting her parents at Utuwai. Miss Gene Tunnicliffe, of tho Canterbury Training College, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs 0. D. Tui nicliffe, of Rongotea.
