CENTENARIAN CLUB
FORMATION IN LONDON. EXPANSION OF AVERAGE LIFE. “AVOID EXCESSES” IS THE MOTTO. (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) Received August 24, 9.15 a.m. LONDON, Aug. 23. Five hundred Londoners have formed a Centenarian Club. They are pledged by example and precept to further the cause enabling everyone to become centenarians. The club’s researches show that there are about 36 men and 109 women centenarians in England and Scotland, and 42 men, and 74 women in the Irish Free State. The society’s motto is: “Avoid Excesses.” The founders are convinced that a, generous expansion of the present aveiv age'span of life is possible. If one eats sparingly of all good foods, limits alcohol, smokes reasonably and sleeps eight hours, then there is every reason to believe that one will not only reach a century, but also will become ableminded, clear-thinking centenarians.
