ARGENTINA AND BRAZIL.

BRITISH ECONOMIC MISSION. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 25. Lord D’Abernon and other members of the Economic Mission to Argentina and Brazil attended a dinner of the Latin American Society this evening. Lord D’Abernon, in a speech, pointed out that his mission was appointed by the late Government and reappointed after the general election by the present Government. This afforded a striking example of continuity of policy. Favourable augueries were not wanting, that practical results would proceed from the mission. In the first place, there was the determination of the Government to pursue vigorously a policy of trade development. In the second place, he was deeply impressed with the vast possibilities in those great and progressive countries which the. mission was appointed to visit. Their wealth, good-will to this country, and practical intelligence would facilitate the task of the mission, which was composed of men of action and affairs. Lord D’Abernon added: “We realise that in their political development, culture, and products, the South American Republics are essentially compleemntary to industrial countries in the Northern Hemisphere such as Great Britain. Being complementary, there is a certain absence of rivalry. Relations of mutual esteem and fruitful co-operation become not only practicable, but also easy when friendship is not menaced by professional jealousy. Mr A. Henderson, Foreign Secretary, sent a message declaring that Great Britain valued very highly the sentiment which had subsisted between her and the Republics of Latin America since the attainment of their in ependence. Commercial relations ■ were of first importance to both P- 1 ties. While the present m.ss.o^.noul^ visit Argentina, J^ a im J K)r tancc of exhe was alive to th P other South tending inquiries later American countiies^^_^__
