ARRIVAL AT KARACHI

Received July 5, 10.5 a.m. KARACHI,.JuIy 4. Tho Southern Cross arrived at four o’clock this afternoon from Allahabad. Bad luck continued on the journey from Allahabad. A slight engine trouble arose, and adjustments will have to be made here. The crew now hope to reach London on Sunday.

EARLIER STAGE. HELD UP AT ALLAHABAD. (United Service.) CALCUTTA, July 4. During the whole- of the 500 miles from Calcutta to Allahabad the Southern Cross experienced a strong head wind. The airmen landed at the wrong place at Allahabad, and then found it impossible to re-start the right propeller. Finally, after hours of persistence, Lieutenant Uhn succeeded in restarting the blade; and the aviators took off for the proper aerodrome. Squadron-Leader Kingsford Smith stated that never since he had begun his adventurous journey had the _ engines given so much trouble. This he attributed to the great heat, which the fliers are finding almost unbearable. Following are the details pf tho flight of the Southern Cross to date: — June 25 —Left Richmond, Sydney, for Derby, Western Australia, about 2100 miles. June 26 —Arrived at Derby after flight of 22 hours 5 minutes.

June 27—Left Derby for Singapore, about 2020 miles.

June 28 —Arrived at Singapore. June 29 —Left Singapore and landed at Singora, Siam, about 458 miles. June 30 —Arrived at Rangoon, Burma, from Singora, about 690 miles. July 2—Left Rangoon and arrived at Calcutta, about 660 miles. July 3 —Flew from Calcutta to Allahabad, about 460 miles.
