CHINESE BANDITS ACTIVE.

SIX FOREIGNERS CAPTURED.

(Australian Press Association.) SHANGHAI, June 9. Hordes of bandits descended upon Sliekichen, a city of West Honan, today, according to reports received here. The bandits raided the Parcfnna Island Mission, capturing six foreigners, whom they are holding to ransom. Those in captivity are: Mr and Mrs Ernest Weller, Mr and Mrs John Walker and child, and Miss Brook. The bandits razed Shekichen, massacring hundreds of Chinese and carrying off loot. The raid was made possible owing to the withdrawal of Feng Yu Hsiang’s military garrison. The garrison was withdrawn owing to the necessity of strategic measures for the forthcoming struggle against Chiang Kai-shek.
