DEAINAGE MATTERS.

MAKERUA BOARD MEETS. The Makerua Drainage Board met to-day, Mr H. J. Hume presiding. Others present were Messrs H. Akers, J. F. Carter, H. Barker, J. Liggins and T. D. Lynch. The board’s overseer reported that since the last meeting the pipe line running through the bank in Mr V liliams’s property had been lifted up and replaced for about twenty feet, and the joints cemented up. The crack in the concrete wall at Ma Tippler’s had received attention. All the drain cleaning contracts had been started and would be finished by the end of the week. Rowland’s, Lynch s and Parr’s drains had been completed. A contract had been let for Young’s drain at Linton. The report was adopted. The chairman’s action in purchasing two horses for £73 wa? confirmed. The chairman reported that instruction had been given to notify property owners of the board’s intention to proceed with the work at the Kara Creek banks. Accounts amounting to £334 15s 6d were passed for payment.
