I The directors of the Kiritaki Co-op-■)airy Co., Ltd., have appointed Mr A. fir. Hawke, out; of 44 applicants, as manager of the Kiritaki factory. Mr Hawke has a lengthy experience of botli cheese and butter making, and for the past five years has been manager of the Tiakatahuna factory. • The Hokowhitu School Committee last evening granted leave of absence to the chairman, Mr G© D. Pattle, who will be absent from New Zealand for three or four months on business. Mr Weston J. Smith was appointed acting-chairman until Mr Pattle’s return. The Hospital authorities reported today that Miss Valda Morgan, who sustained a fractured skull when she slipped while alighting from a train at Tokojnaru on Sunuay, is still in a critical condition, being conscious only at intervals. !' A Press Association telegram from iHamilton states that Captain H. S. Fussell, late of the. 111th Indian Regiiment, formerly assistant treasurer to the British Administration in Palestine, was ordained deacon by Bishop Cherrington yesterday and appointed his [domestic chaplain. Mr T. D. Pearce has tendered his resignation as rector of the Southland Boys’ High School, a position he has Ijield for the last 25 years (states 'a IjPress Association message from Inver»argill). For some time it has been Ipnown that Mr Pearce intended to repire shortly, and it is understood that gpis his intention to devote his time to She compilation of a school register. The board has accepted the resignation Jrith regret, to take effect immediately, and leave has been granted on full pay. The sudden death of Mr Alfred [Drummond Snedden, Inspector of Facjtories, occurred at Greymouth last Inight as' a result of laryngitis, the im[jnediate cause being suffocation (states Ui Press Association message). Deceased was about 37 years of age. He Mas a native of Auckland, where his Bather, Mr James Snedden, is a wellRnown draper. He had been at Greyffihouth for about nine years, and was Mb have left the Government service after a term of over nine years at the Kid of this month in order to take up !$n appointment at the Auckland Technical College.
