FARMERS’ VISITS.
TO PALMERSTON NORTH
ARRANGEMENTS IN HAND.
Arrangements for tho visit of 600 southern farmers to Palmerston North on separate excursions within a fortnight of each other were cliscussed at a representative meeting held yesterday. Mr J. Liuklater, M.P. presided and others present were Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P.. the Mayor (Mr A. J. Graham, Messrs J. Batchelar, W. McKenzie, C. Fraser, Ni Campbell, J. Balsillie, E. N. Budden, McNeil and Pringle. Details bf the proposed excursions were outlined, i$ being stated that 300 farmers from Canterbury and the West Coast would proceed as far asAuckland. On (their return they would arrive at Palmerston North at 9 p.m. on June 6. They would spend the whole of the following day at this centre, and it was proposed to convey them to Massey College and through the Kairanga district. They would depart at 9.30 a.m. the next day. Arrangements were made for a reception and Messrs Graham, Nash and Pizzey were appointed an entertainment committee.
The following transport committee was appointed: —Messrs L. H. Collinson, W. McKenzie, R. T.' Jaggard, J. Selwyfi. H. E. Edmunds and J. Batchelar.
Another party of farmers from Otago and Southland would arrive from a visit to Taranaki at noon on the second day of the National Dairy Show, it was stated, and they would leave at 8 p.m. on the following day. Similar arrangements were made for their entertainment, and they will be the guests at a smoke concert. Messrs Grahhm, Nash and Lethbridge were appointed a sub-committee to meet the visitors at Marton.
