On the aggregate of the morning play, the Wellington teams finished with a total of 269 points to 220 registered by Manawatu, but in the afternoon, when ten rinks from Manawatu met the Wellington Centre, the visitors finished the winners by the narrow maring of one point. The weather • was magnificent, there being a complete absence of wind, while the sun shone with almost summer heat throughout the afternoon. The visitors proceeding to Island Bay were generously met at the Thorndon Station by members of the Island Bay Club, who conveyed them in cars to their destination, a courtesy which was greatly appreciated. At each green welcomes were extended by the chief ’ executive officer present, representatives of . the . Manawatu Centre responding. When the ten rinks assembled for inter-centre play on the Wellington Club’s green in the afternoon, MrMarcus Marks, president of the .Wellington "Centre, voiced a hearty welcome to the Manawatu players and expressed his pleasure at tlieir visit to Wellington. Mr G. W. Wardrop, vicepresident of the Manawatu Centre, returned thanks for the kindly sentiments. Details of the friendly .games played ill tlie morning are as follow; ON WELLINGTON GREEN. Five games played on the Wellington Club’s green resulted in a win for the home club by 121 points to 76. Total. —Manawatu, 192; Wellington, 191. ' At the, conclusion of the games, the president of the Wellington Centre (Mr M. Marks) congratulated the winners most heartily on their win. Cheers were given for the visitors, the Wellington Club, and the president of the Wellington Centre. DOMINION PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP. Mr T. Gray (Kelburn Club)*; delegate to the Wellington Bowling Centre, gave notice at the meeting of the Centre Council of his intention to move as a remit for the Dominion Council: “That the pairs competition at the annual Dominion tournament be conducted in future, by each player playing only three howls.” At present eachxplayer plays four bowls. Messrs 0. Kershaw and H. G. Mayer were nominated as non-offi-cial members, of the Dominion Council for the ensuing year. The election takes place at the end' of May next.

TAKARO CUP.

After an interesting match, a rink from the Palmerston North Club yesterday went very close to wresting the Takaro Cup from the Terrace End holders. Terrace End, after being on level terms with Palmerston North on the thirteenth head, were five down on the next' head, , but by getting a single, two and two singles on the last four heads, they' succeeded in equalling Palmerston North’s total of 19 points, and retained the trophy. The Terrace End rink comprised Hine, Wallace, Jones, Duncalf (skip), while Crump,

Boon, Goldfinch. and Patton (skip) represented Palmerston North. AINSLIE SHIELD. Yesterday afternoon two rinlis from the Takaro Club visited Manawatu in matches for the Ainslie Shield. Manawatu, however retained the trophy by 44 points to 35. Rinks and scores were as follow :—Manawatu (Page, Holdaway, King Kershaw (skip) 24, beat Takaro (Lyall, Free, Littlejohn, Morgan (skip), 14; Manawatu (Shand, Killiclv.
