COUNTY FINANCES.
SATISFACTORY POSITION SHOWN Judging by the figures presented by the treasurer (Air A. K. Drew) at yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu County Council, indications are that, the council will come through the financial year with a substantial credit balance. The finances of the county for the month of March were shown as follows : —County fund account, dr., £B9O 4s: main highways loan account, cr., £1224 15s lOd; loan account, cr., £3117 8s 6d; liet credit balance, £3942 0s 4d. Amounts available for expenditure in the various ridings were given asunder : —Sandon £BB 4s 3d, ' Mount Stewart £47 16s 4d, IVaitohi £l3 2s Od, Rongotea £l7 6s Id, Carnarvon £143 5s 2d, Awaliou £157 6s 7d. Kawa Kawa riding was shown as being over-expended to tlie amount of £246 18s 4d.
