CHARGE AGAINST YOUTH.
STABBING AFFAIR. Per Press Association. MASTERTON, April 9. The hearing was continued in the Supreme Court to-day of the case in which Owen Llewellyn Udy, 18 years of age, residing at Carterton, was charged that, on February 7, ho did assault Albert John Udy and do him actual bodily harm: Albert John Udy, accused’s father, who has now fully recovered, said that he had some liquor on the day under review and had no very clear recollection of what happened. He was quite certain that his son did not intend to stab him. Mr Justice Smith stated that that was a question entirely for the jury. The only other Crown witnesses were two Carterton constables and Detective Jarrold, of Wellington. The detective put in a statement made by accused, in which he admitted stabbing bis father. The defence called two sisters of accused, whose evidence went to show that the incident was accidental.
Counsel for accused stated that accused and his mother would also give evidence, and the hearing was adjourned until to-morrow.
