JUNIOR TENNIS PLAYERS.

CONTEST FOR TROPHIES. Mr M. L. Lampe, the well-known Wanganui tennis player, who has been a regular competitor at local tournaments in the last few years, was successful at the 1928 Manawatu championships in securing two first prizes. These ne generously donated to the Manawatu Association to be competed for by the junior players of the district. The trophies were won by Betty, Thompson, daughter of Mr A. W«, Thompson, headmaster of Terrace End School, and M. Rodgers, son of Mr T. J. Rodgers. The competition was conducted throughout the season and the final stage was reached on Saturday when Betty Thompson and M. Rodgers met Indra Walker and Peter Ralfe, Vof Bulls, at Bulls, the Palmerston North pair winning. The conditions laid down that the players should be under 14 years.
