RANGITIKEI RACING CLUB. (From Our Own Cortespondent.) BULLS, March 28. The Rangitikei Racing Club committee mot on Monday night. Mr E. H. Porrett (chairman) and Messrs J. E. Walker, J. Tricker, G. H. Archer, F. J. Mansoil, D. W. Wilson, A. W. Amon, E. A. Caldow, J. B. Bradley, F. 0.. Bailey, J. McKelvio and R. Mackay. Leavo of absonco was granted to Messrs J. B. Johnstone, J. ..H. Whisker and W. S. Penny. Tho committee recommend that the apprenticeship of J. W. Hill to A. E. Neale do registered. It was decided to apply for \the following racing dates for 1930, viz., March 5 and 6. Tho chairman complimented the stewards, officials, and the secretary on tho smooth running and the success of „ tho recent meeting. It was decided to alter the start of tho seven furlong races, placing tho starting post in tho polo ground, which will give eight chains of a straight before meeting a turn. Tho estimated cost is from £35 to £4O. It was decided to enlarge tho plantation alongside the iron fence at tho north ond; also to put in a gate in the fence in front of tho totalisator betweon tho lawn and the outsido. Tho caretaker was granted a bonus of £5 and is to bo allowed additional grazing. The course proper and tho polo ground havo boon top-drossod. CROQUET. A friendly match was played at Bulls on Tuesday afternoon bet when lady members of tho Marton and Bulls Croquet Clubs. The weather was perfect, and the local groon was in splendid playing order. Following aro results of tho games ployed, Marton players being mentioned. first: — Mrs Cowley and Mrs Parkos 13 lost to Mrs Ingram and Mrs Green 22; Mrs Stevens and Mrs Newman 21 lost to Mrs H. Stevens and Mrs Wilson 26. A pleasing featuro was the attendance of a largo number of local lady players who helped to entertain tho visitors at afternoon tea. Tho afternoon was ono of the most enjoyablo spent here, and tho Martonians regrotted that they could not return tho compliment, their own greens not being playable this season.
