RUGBY FOOTBALL.

REFEREES’ ANNUAL REPORT. The following is the annual report of the New Zealand Rugby Referees’ Association, to be presented at the meeting to be held in Palmerston North; — Tho Question of holding future annual general meetings in the month of September, instead of at Easter, is to come up for consideration at this meeting. Examination papers were applied for by the King Country and Waikato Associations, whose referees sat for the theoretical examination set by the examining committee. Mr J. Francis was appointed as the New Zealand Referees’ Association’s representative on the New Zealand Appointment Board. The association’s handbook has not been republished since 1927, but the question of publishing a new edition will come up for consideration at this annual meeting, when a new handbook embodying the latest rulings will be recommended. The following members of affiliated associations have been granted N.Z.R.R.A. certificates: Messrs J. Sheppard and E C. Stratton (Auckland), D. A. Clarke and E. E. Luttrell (Canterbury), A. J. Haub, R. Herd, G. McKenzie, R. McKenzie, G. Marston, J. Sutherland, R. Torrance (Otago), F. S. Roberts (Taranaki). The financial position. set out in the balance-sheet shows a balance of assets over liabilities of £34 18s lid. In conclusion, the report thanks affiliated associations for their continued interest in Rugby football and expressed the wish that the present season will be most successful. The team to represent Kia Toa in their match against Pirate seniors at Wanganui on Easter Saturday will be selected from the following:—Boldt, Rae, Mitchell, Conrad, Comber, Doherty, Gallichan, Nesbit, Brown, Thompson, Heize, G. Morgan, Hancock, Wasley, W. Morgan, Weston, L. Mullins, Kelly. The bus leaves Bank of New Zealand corner at 9 a.m. on Saturday. Tho following will represent Old Boys to play Napier High School Old Boys on Saturday at the High 'School grounds at 9.30 sharp:—Palmer, Hoddinott, Riddell, Sutherland, Akuira, Evans, Waugh, Lancaster, Snell, Sandman, Fox, Guy, Galpin, Neild, Rennett, Withers.
