DOCTOR’S OPERATION, v AUCKLAND, March 26. The fact that owing to lack of proper lighting facilities operations at- the Coromandel Hospital must be performed by candle light, if performed at night, was brought to the notice of the Hon. E. A. Ranson, Minister of Public Works, by a deputation which requested the straightening out of the tangle in connection with the provision of proper lighting facilities. , Mr S. James, chairman of the Coromandel County Council, who is eightyfour years of age, told the Minister that on a recent occasion he was the only remaining volunteer to hold a candle while the hospital surgeon amputated a man’s foot.
