MASSEY COLLEGE.
VISITED BY HIGH SCHOOL BOYS. The Agricultural class, under Mr Stevenson, agricultural master, of the Boys’ High School, visited the Massey Agricultural College yesterday morning. The party -were conducted over 230 acres of land facing the Manawatu Itiver and backing on to the Pahiatua Track. The lecturer in charge was Mr Scrivener, B.Sc., 6oil chemist. Topics dealt with were: (1) Formation of the land; (2) various soil types due to position, e.g., flat tops, sunny slope, shady slopes; (3) plant association on these types; (4) utilisation of Aberdeen Angus bullocks to remove roughage to facilitate top-dress-ing; (5) superphosphate. The party w'ere shown the method of distribution and various other topics were noted on the work. » The visit was of exceptional value and afforded the boys an opportunity of seeing a practical demonstration of the operation leading to, .and the application of fertiliser on country where the ordinary mechanical distributor is not practicable.
