QUEER FISH.

NEW SOUTH WALES CATCH. A party of Walla residents, fishing in the Colombo Creek, at Albury, New South Wales, obtained a fish weighing 21b. of a kind unknown to them, despite the fact that they are old and experienced fishermen. It is similar in shape to a bream, with large silvery scales, exceptionally small mouth, and a very broad tail. The ichthyologist at the Australian Museum (Mr S. P. Whitley) said that it was impossible to identify the fish with accuracy from the particulars given. It might possibly be a “grunter” or silver perch with slightly abnormal characteristics.
