LIFE SAVING
MEETING OF MANAWATU CENTRE The monthly meeting of the Manawatu Centre .of the Royal Life Saving Society was presided over by Mr W. C. Collier. • The chairman reported that the president (Mr W. L. Fitzherbcrt) had presented the secondary schools’ life saving shields to the winners, Technical School (girls) and Boys’ High, School (boys) ; that, as a result of the concession granted by the Borough Council, there had been very satisfactory classes presented for the proficiency certificate of the society, indicating that the concession would prove a very great boon not only to life saving, but to swimming generally, and in years to come would reflect itself very materially in the baths revenue; that,he had been instrumental in the foundation of the Tangimoana Surf Life Saving Club which had a foundation membership of more than 40; that similar action was being taken at Foxton to have a club formed; that classes were coming forward from Feilding Agricultural High School for awards and that this school was now calling tenders for the erection of its own baths.
