* (From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Feb. 28. At the annual general meeting of the Golf Club Mr W. M. Simcox (president), was in tho chair. Tho report and balancesheet dor tho past year were read and adopted. Tho report showed that a very successful and happy season had been enjoyed by members, and all were keemy i looking forward to tho coming opening day. Tho balance-sheet presented by tho hon. treasurer (Mr F. S. Simcox) showed the financos to be in a very healthy condition, and he was heartily congratulated for his good work. Tho club’s competitions last season wero won as follow: Ladies championship, Mrs Holmes; runner-up, Miss Swabey; senior men’s championship, Air J. B. D’Ath; runner-up, Mr G. Holmes; junior championship, Mr H. S. Morse; run-ner-up, Dr. D. S. Milne. Officers for the 'coming season wero elected as follow: President, Mr W. M. Simcox; club captain, Mr P. Simcox; hon. secretary, Mr D. H. Wilmot; hon. treasurer, Mr F. S. Simcox; committee, Dr. D. S. Milne, Messrs C. F. Atmore, E. S. Morse, J. B. D’Ath; handicapper, Mr J. B. D’Ath; auditor, Mr J. P. Brandon; greens committee, Messrs P. Simcox and C. G. Holmes. At a meeting of the committee of the Otaki State School the headmasters’ report stated that the roll number was 280, nnd the average attendance 259. Thirty-one new pupils had been admitted while 38 children had left. There was a sum of £l6 5s 9d in hand for the picnic, with promises of £5 to £6 more. It was considered that a. larger sum was necessary, and therefore agreed that the children should be asked to make a more thorough canvass, it being stated that somo parts of the town and district had not been visited at all. .
