Received November 21, 8.45 a.m. SHANGHAI, Nov. 20. » At the very doors of Shanghai, an act of 1 piracy which tho Chinese authorities arc endeavouring to keep dark was committed. It appears that a junk laden with oil fiom Dairen (capital of the Japanese leased territory of Kwantung) and with a crew of 18 encountered a pirate craft containing 60 men. A regular battle ensued, resulting in 15 of the crew of the junk being killed, and an unknown number of pirates. Finding that the cargo was useless for their purposes; the pirates demanded, and obtained, 16,000 dollars before liberating the junk.
