Burglars mado another attempt to enter the premises of Messrs Ball Bros., huirdressers and tobacconists, in Mansell s Buildings, between Saturday night and Sunday morning. As on the last occasion, a pane of glass was broken in the door at the rear of tho shop, but the intervention of a stout steel netting frustrated tne attempt to reach the lock, and the would-be intruders went away empty handed. The committee of the Rangitikei Racing Club met on Monday evening, when the programme for this season’s race meeting was drawn up. Stake money was increased bv £35, and trophies donated will bring the total value of the increase to £145. Mr J. McKelvie, president of tho club, has donated a cup valued at £BO for the winner of tho Rangitikei Cup, and Miss Scott is presenting plate to the value of £3O to the winner of tho Scott Memorial Handicap.
