MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
IN ENGLAND AND WALES. (British Official Wireless). RUGBY, Oct. 28. The municipal elections will tak9„ place on Thursday in 28 London boroughs and 338 county and non-county boroughs in England and Wales. In London alone, where the elections are triennial, 1374 councillors have to be chosen for the ensuing three years, and some keen contests are expected. Of the London vacancies, 150 have already been filled, owing to no opposition being offered to their candidature. Of these all are Municipal Reform candidates, except three Labour representatives. Tlio Municipal Reformers nominated 1300 candidates in London. Labour is also represented with a candidate in most of the constituencies, and although there are some hundreds of Liberal candidates, the main contests are between Municipal Reformers and Labour. Communists and other Independents of the Left Wing are contesting seats in about 60 wards. At present Municipal Reform hold majorities in 20 London boroughs and Labour in 8.
