BULLS, Sept. 7. Tho following is tho draw for. tho third round of tho men’s stroke competition (handicap) to bo played on Saturday:—John Trickor plays S. Ingram, J. Marumaru plays R. Mansell, T. Willis plays Sir James Wilson, A. Petrio plays E. Robbie. 11. Mackay plays E. Wilson, W. Montgomery plays R. Thompson, V. Edwards plays A. Prichard, H. Goodall plays scorer.. Tho somifinals of tho men’s championship are to bo played by to-morrow, and Law is drawn against Drew and S. Goebel against Signal.
RUGBY.
Tho following "team will represent Bulls against Athletic at Marton on Saturday: Westwood, Homes, Woreta, Tohu, Ellery, Richardson, Brown, Timmins, Hakaria, Cameron (2), Whisker, Ingram, Dwyer and McKenzie; emergencies, Timmins and Green. The abovo players, with Lunn and Gould, are requested to assemble at Bulls boforo 1.15 p.m. on Saturday. The team, with tho senior shield, will bo photographed. Tho senior team and supporters of tho game in Bulls will this evening give a send-off to a popular member of the team, Mr J. Green, who is shortly making his departure from Bulls.
GLYNEATH SCHOOL.
Tho euchre party in aid of tho Glyneath School, held in Bulls on Tuesday evening, drew a largo crowd, some sixteen tables taking part in the tournament. Tho prizes were won by Miss Guinano and Mr J. Torroy, and “consolations” were awarded to Miss P. Iveat and Mr K. Feild. At the conclusion Mr P. Koat thanked thoso present for their patronage and a danco w*as held until midnight. PERSONAL.
Mr H. J. McManaway is a visitor to Bulls at presont, and his many friends aro pleased to seo him looking well after his recent illness. Tho reports of active workers in the campaign for his candidature for tho Manawatu electoral seat are very promising, and thero is no doubt that Mr McManaway will poll well at the forthcoming election. Mr McManaway was present at Marton races on Wednesday, and had the pleasuro of seeing his horse, Kilburn, run a creditable second to tho useful Pale Star, the dividend returned for second placo boing quite a satisfactory one. Mr J. B. Gaisford, of Wellington, is spending a few days here between the Marton and Wanganui race meetings. Mr Gaisford hoped to produce his horse, Rash, at Marton, but the stato of tho track was against a horso that prefers to gallop “on top of tho ground,” and Rash was kept for a moro favourable day. Mr Gaisford’s trainer, Mr “Ted” Penman, another e.rstwhilo Bulls resident, also renewed acquaintance with local people, as did another trainer, Mr “Harry” Moss, who resided here a few years ago, and was successful with Mark Time, Mattock, Celmisia, Anticipate, and many other of Mr GaisforcPs horses. Mr J. Dailey, of Flock House, Bulls, who met with an injury to his hand recently, returns to hospital shortly to have a finger amputated. Another local resident, Mr M. McKinnon, is at presont nursing a broken collar-bono. Mr and Mrs J. Green leave early next week for their new homo in Takaka, Nelson, where Mr Green will take up the position of manager of tho Takaka Dairy Coy’s factory.
