TOBACCO PRICES.
PRICE-CUTTING WAR.
AUCKLAND'S EXPEDIENCE,
(By Telegraph.—Special to Standard). AUCKLAND, Sept. 4. Auckland tobacconists are in the throes of the same price cutting war which has developed in Australia, and some lines are now cut so fine that thero is no margin of profit beyond the cash discount on purchases. The local trouble appears to have originated through so many other lines of business adding tobacco to their lists, resulting in tobacconists and grocers bringing down their prices to protect themselves.
