ILL-FATED ITALIA.
PROFESSOR’S FINAL ARTICLE.
RECORDS AND MEASUREMENTS SAVED.
(Times Cables.) LONDON, Aug. 20. Professor Behounek, in his final art. icle dealing with the flight of the illfated Italia, states: “My special .apparatus for the Italia consisted of a contrivance for measuring the number of ions and electrical property of the air, and apparatus for measuring radioactivity, which hitherto had not been attempted in Polar regions. A laboratory constructed on the bridge of the Citta di Milano functioned for only a few days. I saved almost all the records and measurements I made. I found an electrometer after the crash and installed it on an ice cake. An amber cigarette-holder rubbed with felt taken from a motor cover served the purpose of an extra battery'. I thereby worked for a week, after which the shifting ice compelled our departure. “Only General Nobile has the right to speak of the splendid work of Maimgren and Pontremoli, or publish other scientific results of the expedition.”
