EFFECT ON TASMAN FLIGHT,
MONTH’S POSTPONEMENT PROBABLE.
(United- Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received August 22, 8.55 a.m. PERTH/ Aug. 22. More rain precluded the Southern Cross fliers hopping off from Maylands for Adelaide.
It may be two more days before they aro able to leave. Fears are entertained by Captain Kingsford Smith that the flight to New Zealand may have to be postponed another month, dspbeially if they aro delayed at Maylands beyond Saturday, in which case they will miss the full moon.
A message published yesterday stated: Fine weather has returned and the Maylands aerodrome has so improved that the Southern Cross will hop off to-day for Taminin, where a full load of petrol, also Messrs McWilliams (radio operator) and Litchfield (navigator) will be taken aboard. The flight tio Adelaide will begin at about 5 p.m. Captain Kingsford Smith expects to arrivo at Adelaide on Wednesday morning at eight o’clock, Adelaide time. The meteorologist predicts _ rain for the whole journey, but Captain Smith is desirous of losing no more time.
